12 AUGUST 07 - Cashion Schools Start, Cashion United Methodist Church Newsletter Ready For Download, Cashion Schools Seeking Offers For Surplus Property, Cashion Basketball Schedule Up! What's that I hear? Is that a collective "GASP" from the kids, and an even louder collective "WHEW" from their parents!?! Well, my kids aint fooling me! I know, underneath all the theatrics and feigning illness, that they can't wait to get back to school and see their buddies regularly! And, so it begins! Yes sir, folks...the time honored tradition of the love/hate relationship, otherwise known as school, is beginning once again this Thursday! Speed limits in town will be in slow mode, but that's a good thing! Big, yellow, new buses will be streaking down the dirt roads around Cashion, picking up little treasures all along their routes! And our wallets and purses will no doubt take a HUGE hit as we get all the "necessary" junk the teachers demand (well, actually, I was surprised at the sanity with which the teachers have been requesting supplies these last couple of years). But it's worth it...I'll gladly fork over the money for supplies to keep my little crumb crunchers busy at school this year! Yup...the peace, the quiet, the need to gain a wee bit of sanity back from this summer...it's all worth it! Oh yeah...and the kids will be learning! Can't forget that! Yeah...Pi = MC2 over the difference between the relationship of a train traveling east at 65mph and...and...oh, I forget! The nice folks at the Cashion United Methodist Church have their brand new August/September newsletter ready for download! All you have to do is wander into their web site, and find the link at the top of their Home Page to download the newsletter. I do have to note that many, many folks take advantage of this offer, and there are quite a few downloads of their newsletter! It is quite the creation, usually seven or eight pages in length, colored, and chock-a block full of information, recipes, inspiring stories, pictures and articles about past doings, and schedules for upcoming events at the Methodist church! It is, indeed, worth the wait to download it, even if you are not a member. It is that informative! This newsletter tells of Pastor Trina Bose North's recent trip to Jerusalem and has many pictures in it! It is quite entertaining! Tomorrow (Monday) is the last day to get in on this next, so if you are interested in obtaining surplus Cashion School supplies, please act now! Cashion Public Schools is soliciting offers for surplus property consisting of four school buses and two passenger vehicles. Persons interested in submitting offers on any of these vehicles should contact the Superintendent's office at 405-433-2741 for further information. All offers must be received by the Superintendent's office no later than 4 PM on Monday, August 13th. The District reserves the right to reject any and all offers. The brand new schedule for Cashion Wildcat Basketball is up and running in the School Calendar for this new school year. So, folks can access that to plan their schedules ahead of time. But, I must refer all interested to According To Jim's own Jim Stover, and his brand new web site dedicated just to boys and girls Cashion Basketball, CashionBasketball.com! The link is under the Cashion School menu, and has already received over 700 hits in the short time it has been up! There is already much information regarding the upcoming season, and there will most assuredly be much more to come! I am excited about this! While I did put the schedule into the school calendar here in CashionOnline.com, I wholeheartedly direct your attention to CashionBasketball.com as the best source for Wildcat basketball this season! That's where you will find me! Whew...school isn't back in session yet, but it has taken nearly ALL of the items in this week's What's New section! That just goes to show us the power this school district has on us all, and the complete support we show towards it! I think that is way cool!!! In closing here, I thought I might update you on some things that are "in the works," for CashionOnline.com. I have been inundated with folks wanting some kind of listings for Cashion Alumni! While the format for such a thing is still under debate, the overwhelming consensus is to have a site dedicated strictly to Cashion Alumni, all associated with CashionOnline.com, of course. That way, I can strictly monitor and edit things if needs be. Another thing I am working on is a Video of the Week segment, much like the Picture of the Week (which has gone over VERY well). I will be putting up silly things, or folks can send me stuff from fishing trips, or that home run Billy hit to win the game, or even Uncle Bob tripping over his own feet. The thing I am most seeking after, but has proven the most difficult for me (with my health) is to get more town representation in here, such as a bi/weekly article from the mayor or the town hall, or perhaps town hall meeting minutes, or other things. I think that we all need to become more involved with the future of our town, and in a small way, perhaps I can do just that with CashionOnline.com. It certainly is a good forum for the town to use to get the word out to its' citizens, since the viewers to this site have skyrocketed! Well, we will see...and to all of this has been YOUR suggestions every now and again about doing this and that...which has been a wonderful thing! In fact, lots of what you see in CashionOnline.com is directly attributed to folks writing in and suggesting idea's. This is OUR web site for all intents and purposes (although, as I have said so many times in the Bulletin Board, that I am the benevolent dictator of CashionOnline.com). It was made as a community service for us all, and your suggestions are as good as anyone's! So, keep sending in your ideas, and this thing will just keep growing and growing and growing and... 5 AUGUST 07 - New High School Teachers Highlighted, Cashion Schools Improvements Update, Free Dog Dip, Cashion Christian Church New Website, Cashion Schools Seeking Offers For Surplus Property, Cashion Fast-Pitch Softball Schedule Up, New According To Jim Article...And It's ME, Web Troubles Report! Cashion High School has four new teachers this year, Michael Eaton, Eddie Jeffcoat, Jacqueline Radford and Jeremy Stover. If you would like to know more about these new folks, there is an article under the Cashion Schools menu entitled "CHS Announces New Staff." It goes into more detail on the new teachers, where they came from, and what they are going to be teaching. There is another article about the new Cashion Schools improvements already done and those coming down the road. This article is also under the Cashion School menu, and is entitled "Cashion School Makes Improvements." It is exciting to read about what has been done, and what is coming! For years, we all knew that Cashion had to do something to make improvements for the ever-increasing student population, and it seems that action is finally happening to make room! There is a FREE dog dip on Saturday, August 11, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Dr. Yost will be present, and it will be held at the Cashion Schools Ag Building. Okay ladies...you want to get rid of those fleas and ticks on your mangy mutt? Bring him in! Oh, and while you are bringing in your husband, you may as well bring the dog for his dip, too! Well, the Cashion Christian Church has finally made their own web site, and it is linked under Cashion Churches in the menu! I must say, it is a mighty fine looking web site, although it is still under construction in parts. That's no problem, because stuff like that just takes time to fill in. So, patrons of that church can access it easily through CashionOnline.com, and the rest of us can easily see what goes on there. It's kind of nice, in that so many different functions happen under their roof, a lot of it not associated with their church. But, those nice folks are happy to oblige the community! Way to go, Cashion Christian Church :) Cashion Public Schools is soliciting offers for surplus property consisting of four school buses and two passenger vehicles. Persons interested in submitting offers on any of these vehicles should contact the Superintendent's office at 405-433-2741 for further information. All offers must be received by the Superintendent's office no later than 4 PM on Monday, August 13th. The District reserves the right to reject any and all offers. The 2007/2008 Cashion Fast-Pitch Softball schedule is now up and running in the school calendar. Games start next week, so don't get caught off guard if you want to watch any fast softball action from the girls! In my opinion, fast-pitch softball is one of the hardest sports in which to participate! How in the world those ladies pitch they way they do is beyond me! And, you'd think the action of a softball would be slow and deliberate, but NOTHING further from the truth! If you want some exciting afternoon game watching, just show up at the softball park near the Elementary school building! You will NOT be disappointed! Well, I am not sure this was such a good idea, but Jim asked me to fill out his survey so he could put it up on the web site! "Are you kidding, Jim?" I said. "I aint nobody in Cashion!" "Hah!" says Jim! "Folks want to know about that crazy guy...er, uh, the fellow behind CashionOnline.com!" So, I filled it out, he pasted his comments in there, and voila! Instant bird cage lining! Well, it aint THAT bad! Finally, I must report on the terrible web troubles CashionOnline.com has been having this week! I have been in constant contact with my Internet Service Provider about the problems. They were swamped with Denial Of Service (DOS) attacks on one of their servers (where CashionOnline.com resides, of course...). While they have managed to clear things up, new DOS attacks have come! So, they may be moving my account to another server (a pain in the keester!) if they can't straighten things up. At any rate, I ask that you please bear with me through all of this. Well, there isn't must else we can do, anyway. Just don't give up. If you can't get on in the mornings, try later on and it may be working! You will eventually get through to a working web site. Yup! Murphy's Law at it's perfection... 30 JULY 07 - Oklahoma Sales Tax Holiday, Fall High School Football Schedule Up And Running, Cashion Schools Seeking Offers For Surplus Property, Last Few Days Of Freedom! Finally, folks on this side of the Texas/Oklahoma border have wised up and declared this coming Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 3rd, 4th, and 5th, as an Oklahoma Sales Tax Holiday! This means that our back-to-school supplies, clothes, widgets, wackadoo's, and wombats can be bought without paying any sales tax on them! The sales tax suspension does have its' limits, and you can Click Here to find out exactly the extent to which the sales tax suspension goes. I have been asked to post the upcoming football schedule for the new school year so that folks can plan for the games. Coach Shackelford has kindly sent me the Fall schedule for Cashion High School football, and it is up and running in the Cashion Schools Calendar on this web site. Tracking him down at the end of his summer holiday was like looking for a needle in a haystack! All the teachers just "disappear!" Wonder why ;) Cashion Public Schools is soliciting offers for surplus property consisting of four school buses and two passenger vehicles. Persons interested in submitting offers on any of these vehicles should contact the Superintendent's office at 405-433-2741 for further information. All offers must be received by the Superintendent's office no later than 4 PM on Monday, August 13th. The District reserves the right to reject any and all offers. Eighteen more days of summer vacation...that's all that awaits our kids! I remember the days of my youth, and the sad, Sad, SAD times that the last few weeks of summer were! It's was like a cloud hanging over your vacation days, waiting to rain on your parade of care-free summer days! No more running around only in shorts...no more eating supper at whoever's house your playing found you that evening...no more running after the ice cream truck in the middle of the hot afternoon...and no more senseless wandering about the countryside on your "wheels of freedom" bicycle without a care in the world other than making it home for lunch. Yes sir, those days are rapidly coming to a close for our youth...and their teachers! Of course, I bet I won't see a tear shed by the parents of these fine youth...not that we don't love our kids. We are just concerned that their brains don't get too full of summer mush and stagnation. Yeah, that's right...they need their education! And, who are we (ahem) to deny them eight glorious hours of uninterrupted attention at school. Never mind that the parents may get so bored now that their kids are back in school that they may be forced to nap just to make the day pass quicker, or that we may be forced to endure the pangs of catching up on who cheated on who on the daily soaps, or that we might have to finish that book we started before school ended. Yes sir...this is transition. But, I am prepared to endure it all, and make that sacrifice! 22 JULY 07 - Introducing New Elementary School Principal, New According To Jim Interview, Cashion Christian Church VBS, Athletic Physicals Scheduled This Week, Farmers/Ranchers Finally Getting Busy!
She is a graduate of OSU, and received her Masters in Education Administration at UCO. She taught for two years at Wilson Arts Integration School in the Oklahoma City Public School system, and another two years at Sequoyah. She served last year as the Vice Principal of Capitol Hill in Oklahoma City, and joins us in August as our new principal! She has a keen interest in the Arts, and hopes to bring that interest to the kids in Cashion. Her personal interests include the Arts, education, church, and traveling. She and her husband are no strangers to Falls Creek, and you may have seen her there. In fact, there are quite a few folks already in Cashion that know Mrs. Hoggatt from various church activities and other arena's. She has expressed a great desire to be in Cashion, and believes her appointment as Principal at Cashion Elementary to be a blessing! We look forward to Ashley Hoggatt as our new Principal, and as always, pledge our support to her, and to the entire Cashion school system! Jim has gone off and done it, again! Yup, he got his ducks in a row and got an interesting interview from Mary Lou Hasley! That makes, what...six interviews so far, and I know for a fact that he is just getting warmed up. So, at your leisure, take a gander at the new "According to Jim," and see Mary Lou's take on things. As always, these interviews from the icons of the Cashion community prove quite interesting :) Just a reminder that the Cashion Christian Church is starting their Vacation Bible School this Monday through Thursday from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. You can register by calling 433-2266 or 722-2963. The Bulletin Board has more information about VBS should you want to know more about it. Coach Tichenor has written an informative post in the Bulletin Board regarding Athletic Passes and physicals for all 6th through 12th grade Cashion students who are going to be playing in any kind of school sports this year. On Thursday, July 26, at 6:00 PM, they will be giving physicals and issuing the new Athletic Passes required to play. The cost is $30, and either payable at the door or after school starts. Entrance to the school for physicals is at the north entrance by the Superintendents office. For more information, please read his post in the Bulletin Board. Well, I am finally seeing some movement in the fields around town! The rains have let up, and the heat has helped dry out the fields enough that the tractors are busy turning under the old wheat. You can even see the hay cutters, rakes, and bailers getting greased. With all the rains we've had, the pasture grass has grown very tall and thick, ensuring some good hay for later feeding. I'm sure there will be second cuttings later on, helping farmers prepare against our unpredictable weather. It has been quite the season for wheat this year, starting out with a great growing season, and ending with a great crop...but unable to cut it! Well, some folks got theirs cut, but lots was lost. Poor farmers and ranchers! You know, the way my luck runs bad, I think I would make an excellent Oklahoma farmer... 19 JULY 07 - Cashion Schools 2007/2008 Calendar Up, Cashion Christian Church Vacation Bible School, Summer Is Finally Here! Thanks to the fine people at the school administration offices, I was able to procure and post the new 2007-2008 calendar year for Cashion schools. While this calendar is nowhere near complete with regards to individual school organizations and their dates, it does show school openings, closings, vacation days, and snow days. You can, at least, plan your times knowing when school is in session and when it is not. Obviously, when other dates become available, they will get posted into the school calendar found in this web site. The Cashion Christian Church is having their Vacation Bible School next Monday through Thursday from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. You can read more about this event in the Bulletin Board. To register, please call 433-2266 or 722-2963. All are welcomed, and with our hot days returning, the Water Works Park activities might be just the thing! Well, things are starting to heat up a bit. While we are nowhere near to busting 100 degrees this year, the mid 90's seem hot enough, especially with all the moisture around! At least we enjoyed a very cool and wet early summer, not like the 39 days of dry, dusty, 100 degree plus days of last summer. However, I'm prepared! The boys put the tiny air conditioner in my bedroom window today, so I won't have another night like last night, where the heat just didn't subside! Watch...I probably will sleep in until two tomorrow afternoon! Oh, how I wish... 8 JULY 07 - Cashion High School Class Of 1997 Reunion Coming Up, Sports Meeting Scheduled, Cimarron Addition Annual City Wide Block Party, Cashion Basketball Gets Their Own Web Site! The Cashion High School Class of 1997 is having their 10 year reunion this coming Saturday! They will be meeting at the Cashion School Cafeteria around noon, where families are welcomed. Sub sandwiches will be served, and a charge of $5 per person or $15 per family will be charged. Later on that evening, they will be taking the reunion to the Fox and Hound on Memorial Road (adults only) for more festivities. If you need more information or you wish to RSVP, please call or email Krista Votaw at 406-240-7033/kdvotaw@aol.com, or Preston Williams at 405-417-0460. They are also requesting that anyone with any information on any of the classmates to please contact Krista or Preston with the information. There are still a few alumni they have not been able to contact yet about the reunion. There will be a meeting of folks from around the community who are interested in centrally combining the insurance and sign-up procedures for all sports activities outside of school. At present, there is already a Cashion Junior Athletic Association, headed up by Chris Cochran (405-433-2177), and the Cashion Baseball League. They have their own sign-up and insurance. However, some folks have been confused trying to get information on who is doing what, coaches, times, money charged, etc. The meeting this Sunday at 6:00 PM in the Cashion School Cafeteria is an attempt for parents of sports-aged kids (male and female) to get together and adopt policy or procedures for a new type of league that will cover all sports under one blanket insurance policy. It is hoped that representatives from the other two leagues can come and give some input into the meeting through their experiences, and that a school representative and town representative be present to give their take on all of this. They are also trying to streamline and advertise sign-up notices for sports programs, and make it easier to sign up. If you need any more information about this Sunday's meeting, please call Kelly Lingo at 405-375-3891, or email her at sklingo@pldi.net. If you are looking for something interesting and fun to do this Saturday evening, the Cimarron Addition is having their Annual City Wide Block Party at 3rd and Cimarron! It all starts up around 7:00 PM until, and a big "ya'll come" is posted for the whole town! Bring your family and friends, food, drinks, and lawn chairs. They'll even cook your own hamburgers and hot dogs for you while you mingle and and the kids play while enjoying the cool summer evening under dusk and twilight! There will even be entertainment by Joel Hicks (donations appreciated)! Folks, this sounds like the quintessential All-American, true blue, apple pie day in Cashion, America! So, please don't miss out...just come, relax, bring your goodies, and just enjoy life for a while :) As we all know, last year's Cashion sports was a heck of a year! The boys football went nearly all the way to State Champions, and the Ladycats basketball DID win State! There were so many folks chomping at the bit for information on all the games, and I did my best to provide by copying (with permission, of course) newspaper articles out of the Kingfisher Times and Free Press on all the games. Well, this year, I am proud to announce a brand new web site dedicated to Cashion Wildcat basketball, male and female! It is CashionBasketball.com. It is linked with CashionOnline.com under Cashion Schools in the menu, but will be solely run by Jim Stover! This is his baby, and quite frankly, I am very much looking forward to it! This site is NOT affiliated with the school directly, however it has the blessing of the men's and women's basketball coaches, Coach Stover and Coach Tichenor. The site is already up and running , and I urge you to wander in and take a peek at the new sports authority for Wildcat basketball this season! Jim has done this town quite the favor by making this web site, and I am only too proud to have it linked here! Something more to look forward :) Well, here it is...almost the middle of summer! The kids don't seem to be as rambunctious this year as last, a fact I directly contribute to the cloudy days and cooler temperatures. Of course, I could be way off base on that assumption, but my boys, at least, are not complaining as much! In fact, they have taken on to doing beaucoup stuff around the house! I have been served some downright delicious gourmet meals by my two boys (they learned from their dear old Pops, who can cook dat stuff, yeah, cher!). They have been steadily keeping up with the mowing (will it ever stop growing?) without much grumbling. They haven't even whined about not being able to go to Florida this year (a yearly adventure for our kids)! Oh well, reckon I ought not delve too deeply into why, but just enjoy it! What's that, Harvey? Oh, okay! Time to eat!!! 31 JUNE 07 - Wacky Weather, More VA Woes, Relay For Life A Rousing Success, According To Jim Versus Tom And Edna Beck, PeeWee Football Sign-Ups! Everyone living around these parts knows what weird weather we have been having! Rains out the wazoo, but the up side to it all is the VERY nice, cool temperatures and drought busting conditions. My family members in Louisiana, Alabama, and Florida sure wish they were getting even one day of our rains. Indeed, the weather seems to have flip-flopped! The year I left Louisiana for Oklahoma in 1989, it rained over 100 inches there! We get here, and chap stick is the order of the day for us humid hungry mud bugs. Today, I sit relieved by the humidity of this summer, and marvel at the cool temperatures, especially in July! Last summer, I had to take trips to Wal-mart just to escape the 114 degree temperatures in my living room! So, while we endure the constant rains, just remember the dusty, hot, scorching days that we could be having, and the gigantic electric bills that we are being spared. It might make the rains a bit easier to take! It has been a while since I posted anything in here. Well, once again, I found myself in the VA hospital twice since I last wrote, once was for a eight day stay, and a few days later for a five day stint. Obviously, while I am "incarcerated" in the VA system, I cannot access my home computer, which is necessary to make updates to this web site. But, things have been sort of slow...and I hope my absence hasn't disrupted things too badly. The worst thing is that is slows me down on the things I was working on, and makes it all the harder to play catch up. But, I will, and I am. Relay For Life raised an astounding $93,000, solely from the efforts of those involved in Kingfisher! Creative Steps, the team my wife was on, raised nearly $3,000 by themselves! Our kin from all over the south came up, not really knowing what to expect, and HAD A BALL!!! Already, they are planning on coming back next year for the 2008 Relay For Life event! Even my teenage boys had an absolute ball that Friday night and Saturday morning, and are eager to do it, again! If you didn't get a chance to participate in this years event, I would highly suggest planning for next years Relay For Life! According To Jim has struck again! This time around, he has hit up Tom and Edna Beck for their insights. As always, I look forward to reading more about famous Cashion residents. I hear tell that in the future, he will be posting pictures of the people he interviews. Folks around the nation who grew up in Cashion are requesting photo's of their old friends, and Jim is trying to satisfy. On a side note, there is more important news coming to you soon about Jim and his outstanding efforts to bring Cashion into a new web era! Look forward to that announcement! There is a PeeWee football signup for 3rd through 7th graders (I believe) at the Maxon Football Stadium Field House Equipment Room at 6:00 PM on Sunday, July 1. Cost is $75. If you need more information on this or other Cashion Junior Athletic Association stuff, please feel free to call Chris Cochran at 433-2117. Well, folks, as we head around the corner to Independence Day, let us not take for granted this marvelous free country we have the great privilege to live in! Indeed, to be called an American gives me chill bumps! And while there are many other outstanding governments dotting this globe, we are grateful to be numbered with them in our ever present vigilance to keep our world free. God Bless those countries and their citizens, and God Bless America!!! 13 JUNE 07 - According To Jim Spotlights New Couple, Cashion United Methodist Church June/July Newsletter Up, Father's Day! Our resident man about town has taken the spotlight to Bob and Ruby Maxon this time around. As always, Jim mixes the interviews with his own special take on the folks he interviews, as only Jim can. Judging by the responses to his interviews, the folks around Cashion delight in his witticisms, too! The new June and July newsletter is up and ready for download in the Cashion United Methodist Church web site in the menu under Cashion Churches. It is a full color newsletter of great length, with so much information within it. Even though I am not a member of their church, I enjoy reading the articles and recipes, and enjoy the photo's. The folks there surely do a wonderful thing with this newsletter! As this Sunday approaches and Father's Day cards are sent out, I must stop to give thanks to my Heavenly Father for the privilege of still having my dad around to talk to. Although we live far apart, we talk at least once a week, if not more. My dad is 85 years old, in great health, great spirit and sharp mind! I only hope I am in such great a shape as he "if" I reach his age! Even my mom, 81 years of age, still works three days a week at the public library where she lives. I am most grateful for her, also, and talk to her quite frequently. Still, it is our father's that we celebrate this coming Sunday, and I hope that most of us are able to do that. Dad's, while not infallible, should command our respect...especially the dad's of the greatest generation ever known. They lived their childhoods during the Great Depression and pushed their way through, they did their duty to country during WWII, they came home to an America that was just entering the golden years of living, and they managed to raise us kids despite the hippies, long hairs, and the horror that was every parents nightmare, Vietnam. They deserve our respect and our love, and my father knows that he has mine. So, remember to say a prayer this Sunday for our dad's...and for yourself if you are a father. They, and we, will appreciate it :) 9 JUNE 07 - Cashion United Methodist Church Centennial Celebration, Kingfisher County Relay For Life, Town Garage Sale, Cashion Farm And Road Show, Quiet Times! As we celebrate our state's centennial this year, we ought take note of other centennial celebrations going on this year. Among the many, such as centennial farms and our own town's centennial recently, is the Cashion United Methodist Church Centennial Celebration! Yes, this year, they are celebrating their centennial history, and YOU are cordially invited to 100th Anniversary Celebration! An informal celebration is scheduled for Saturday, June 16th, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with fellowship and fun. A special Worship Service will take place the following Sunday morning at 10:30 AM, June 17th, presided over by Pastor Trina Bose North, with a special talk by Bishop Robert E. Hayes, Jr. A cookie and punch reception will follow worship service that morning. All are cordially invited to attend as they celebrate 100 years of worshipping at Cashion United Church! It is nearing time for the Kingfisher Relay For Life Celebrations later this month! It is not too late to register your family, church group, youth group, business group, or a bunch of friends for a fun, all-night celebration of life among cancer survivors, running from Friday evening, June 22, 7:00 PM through Saturday morning at 7:00 AM. The day of the Relay, teams set up their campsite at the Kingfisher Park off Hwy 33 with tents, sleeping bags, games, "sustenance," and decor. Cancer survivors from the community rally together and kick off the Relay by walking a Victory Lap around the track, known as the Survivor's Lap. At dusk that evening, a Luminaria Ceremony honors all those affected by cancer. Lit candles are placed in bags bearing the names of "In Honor Of" cancer survivors, and "In Memory Of" those who lost their battle to the disease. Throughout the event, everyone enjoys live entertainment, games, and activities, while taking turns walking laps and having fun with their group and others! It truly is an event for the whole family, and promises to be a full night of summer fun under the moon! So grab your buddies, and do something "wild" that evening, while honoring those who survived cancer, and helping those in the battle. To register your team, or to get more information about the event, please visit the web site at http://www.ascevents.org/relayforlifekingfishercounty, or by contacting Denise Choate-Ruhl by email at deniseruhl@pldi.net, or by calling 405-375-5688. You are limited in your fun that night only by the boundaries of your imagination! The Cashion community is having their yearly official Garage Sale on June 23rd this year. All residents and groups are encouraged to "clean out their closets" and get those items out on the driveways and parking lots in town! Folks, if you really want to hit some serious garage sales, then this is the place to be. Not only can you snoop into the lives of your neighbors by seeing what they have stored in their closets, you can also pick up some mighty neat items...you know, stuff you have been looking for your whole life, but never knew where to get it! So, start gathering your kids outgrown clothes and games, dust off those old albums and CD's from when you used to secretly disco, get out those kitchen items you never use anymore, or run over to grandma's house and get the stuff you have been promising her you would get rid of for the past few years, and make some money! Better yet, donate those items to your local church or group who will be selling stuff that day so that they can make some money! But be sure to take the time (the early bird REALLY does get the worm on this day) to cruise the town for just that thing you have been missing in your life! You never know...you might end up on The Antiques Road Show one day with your jaw hitting the floor while the official looking at your imported, slightly damaged, kind of turning colors, antique looking doohickey fetches you a cool half million dollars...all from checking out Cashion's annual garage sale! Whodathunkit, eh? The Cashion Farm and Road is coming up soon. It is scheduled for Saturday, June 23rd this year. More information about events and schedules will be coming up in the next week or two, so stay tuned here for that! Well folks...it sure has turned quiet in town! I mean, there are kids running around outside and/or laying about the house now, but things in town just seem to have hit a sudden lull! It's like someone turned off the lights the week school closed its' doors! Maybe I am missing the boat by living outside of town, but the calendars are pretty empty! Oh, there is stuff going on in the family, and fun stuff is coming up in the near future...but the few weeks immediately after school just seem to be empty and devoid of life. Not that I am complaining, you understand! I mean, quiet times means no money being dished out for school trips, proms, school parties, or sporting events. There are no sudden "have to be there" type of events happening in our kids lives, and that takes the pressure off us parents for a time. I kind of like it...it means a slower pace for me with regards to CashionOnline.com. I could use it about now, to be sure, and I reckon I ought not talk too much about it. Murphy is surely sitting around the corner waiting to throw his law at me...and I don't want to tempt him by having too little to do these few quiet weeks. Still, there is something nice to be said for these slower late May/early June days on the prairie...unless you are a wheat farmer! |
